Dismember (1988-2011): a Death Metal band from Stockholm, Sweden.

odged firmly in the "Viking Metal" fantasy world, Stockholm's Dismember, operated by Matti Karki (vocals), Fed Estby (drums), Richard Cabenza (bass), Robert Senneback (guitar) and David Bloomquist (guitar), emerged from the ashes of about half of the membership of Nihilist on the 'Nuclear Blast' label in 1988 to carve out a gory reputation with the release of their debut Like An Ever Flowing Stream (1991) and it's track (based on earlier EP) Skin Her Alive raising eyebrows with customs officials.

Nevertheless, their brand of blasphemy squeaked through with passing grades to release the follow-up in 1993, Indecent and Obscene, most likely as a 'Trudeau Salute' (middle finger) to their would-be censors. This new album featured the likely continuation to Skin... under the name of Eviscrated (Bitch). Massive Killing Capacity (1995) was the next, while the Misanthropic EP (1997) would follow before.

Their first line-up change would occur in the form of Sharlee D'Angelo replacing Richard on bass.

Death followed in 1997 with Hate Campaign (2000) following, featuring Magnus Sahlgren replacing Senneback, Sharlee D'Angelo replaced Cabeza. But Cabeza returned, along with the replacement of Sahlgren with Martin Persson for the release of Where Iron Crosses Grow in 2004, inspired by Iron Maiden and Autopsy.

In 2005, Dismember switched record companies, this time signing to 'Regain Records', which bought the rights to their earlier albums as well and released them as luxury digipak editions. In 2006, their seventh album, The God that Never Was arrived continuing in the style of its predecessor. In November 2006, Dismember toured Europe as part of the Masters of Death tour, with Grave, Unleashed, Entombed and Exterminator.

After the release and tour, Estby then left, leaving a post on the band's official site on April 20, 2007, citing the demands of touring and the needs of his family as key reasons. The band, itself, didn't last much longer, for in April 2008, they released their eighth and final album, Dismember.

Dismember released a two-disc DVD titled Under Bloodred Skies in late July 2009. The live concerts were filmed in the Netherlands and at the 2008 Party San Open Air Festival in Bad Berka, Germany. The DVD also included a documentary and interviews with band members. This would be the last effort for the band who decidedly to suddenly split in 2011.
