Deathspell OmegaBIOGRAPHYDeathspell Omega (1998-present): a Black Metal band from Poitiers, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. C reated by guitarist Hasjarl (Real Name: Christian Bouché) as a side-project before Hirilorn broke up, Deathspell Omega debuted in 2000 as a somewhat ordinary Norse-inspired primitive black metal band, but then took a detour into an Avant-garde path. After Hirilor split, vocalist Shaxul (Real Name: Frédéric Sescheboeuf), Hasjarl, and bassist Khaos carried on with Deathspell Omega as a three-piece. Eventually, Mikko Aspa replaced Shaxul on vocals, due to Shaxul's distaste for the band's evolving direction towards Orthodox Satanism. Deathspell Omega's discography would include Infernal Battles (2000), Inquisitors of Satan (2002), Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice (2004), Kénôse (EP; 2005), Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum (2007), Veritas Diaboli Manet in Aeternum: Chaining the Katechon (EP; 2008), Mass Grave Aesthetics (EP; 2008), Paracletus Read All... ⏬ (2010), Diabolus Absconditus (EP; 2011), Drought (EP; 2012), The Synarchy of Molten Bones (2016), The Furnaces of Palingenesia (2019) and The Long Defeat (2022), but it would be the trio of albums Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice, Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum, and Paracletus that firmly established band as extreme metal innovators.
