Navigating the Website

Diskery Express is an MS-Windows based application developed as a proof of concept for the Diskery API. It connects directly to the Diskery API and allows you to search Diskery's extensive database without loading a web browser. It is free to download, distribute and use, keeping in mind that it is a no-frills application. To avoid potential legal issues it dispenses with artist images and logos and uses the text for biographies and discographies only. It was written in the C language and is the first stand-alone program to use the Diskery API.

Installing Diskery Express:
Unzip the package and copy the resulting two files (instruction manual and application itself) into any directory/path on your PC. You may need to turn off virus scanners during installation and allow the application access through your Internet firewall if applicable. Windows Defender might block it because it is an unusually small unsigned program: tell it to "Run it Anyway".

Compatibility:
MS-Windows 2000 or higher (yes that includes XP, Vista, 7, 8/8.1, 10, 11) 32 (x86) or 64 (x64) bit. It runs on PC desktop & laptop computers, and systems with Windows emulators. At the present time there is no native MAC or Linux version.

Searching using Diskery Express:
Enter any band name into the search box or use their unique Diskery ID Number. If the band name IS a number, use the ^ (caret [SHIFT]+6) and the name. Bands starting with a number in their name but otherwise have alpha characters need not use this exception. If the name you enter has multiple entries you will be presented with a list along with unique ID numbers: enter the desired number into the search bar. The word 'ALL' is reserved and will generate a list of all artists available to be viewed in Diskery Express but note: Use of the 'ALL' (alternatively '*') may take the application a considerable time to process since it is receiving a lot of data and may make it look like it is not responsive; use this feature with patience.

Error Messages and Actions:

• No record found. Check spelling and try again - Name or ID is not in the database - Try a different name or ID
  
• Failed to initialize Internet connection - Your internet is turned off or not functioning - correct and retry
  
• Failed to connect to the URL - Diskery server was unavailable or your internet is unavailable - Try again later
  
• Memory allocation failed! - Internal Error - Restart the application
  
• Memory allocation failed during response reading! - Internal Error - Restart the application
  
• A copy of this program is already running! - Only one copy can run at any time - Close the previous execution
  
• Invalid or corrupted JSON: Missing required field - Data from Diskery server was incomplete or corrupted - try again
  
• Invalid or corrupted JSON: Value formatting error - Data from Diskery server was incomplete or corrupted - try again
  
• Invalid or corrupted JSON: Missing closing quote - Data from Diskery server was incomplete or corrupted - try again
  
• Nothing to print! - Not an error - Notice that you cannot print the window content as there is nothing to print
  
• Feature Unavailable - Feature is disabled - To preserve copyright CUT/PASTE is disabled
