Death SS (1977-1984, 1987-1992, 1992-1993, 1993-2009, 2012-present): a Doom Metal band from Florence, Tuscany, Italy.

his act started in 1977 as Sylvester's Death by by Paolo Catena (guitars) and Stefano Silvestri (a.k.a. Steve Silvester; vocals). Under this name, the act went through a large number of line-up changes and reformations and this habit had not changed by the time they reformed as Death SS (the 'SS' in reference to the singer's name, Steve Sylvester from the debut full-length onward.

The debut release was 1983's Evil Metal with Thomas Hand Chaste (drums), Claud Galley (bass), Sanctis Ghoram (R.I.P. 2004; vocals (lead; tracks 1, 2)) and Paul Chain (guitars/vocals (lead; track 3)).

For the debut full-length release ...in Death of Steve Silvester (1988) another full line-up change would feature Steve Silvester (vocals (lead)), Erik Landley (bass), Christian Wise (guitars), Kurt Templar (Real Name: Andy Fois; guitars/bass (tracks 3, 6, 9)) and Domenico Palmiotta (drums).

Black Mass (1989) saw Marc Habey (bass) and Kevin Reynolds (guitars).

Heavy Demons (1991) once again saw a massive line-up change, this time with singer Sylvester remaining to recruit Ross Lukather (Real Name: Rossano Lucarini; drums), Andy Barrington (Real Name: Andrea Bariselli; bass), Alberto Prestini (guitars) and Jason Minelli (Real Name: Stefano Palego guitars).
