Powergod

Biography

Powergod (1997-2007): a Speed Metal band from Hagen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

O

riginally forming under the name Axetacy, Powergod started in 1997 with the membership of Riff Randall (Real Name: Andy Brings; guitar), Hama Hart (Real Name: Haan Hartmann; drums) and Leo L. Sing (vocals). But in 1999 they changed their name to Stormbringer. Under this new name they released a song on the Rock-Hard-Unerhört-Sampler Vol. 2 compilation. As a result, several record companies contacted them offering contracts, but it was 'Massacre Records' that got the nod and soon after the band changed their name to Powergod.

In the first half-year, after having signed to 'Massacre', they released their first album Evilution Part I (1999), but before their appearance at the Wacken Open Air Festival vocalist Sing was fired and replaced with President Evil (Real Name: Alexander Koch).

One year after the debut, the second album Back To Attack - Evilution Part II  (2000) was released and followed in the same style and content of the debut not only in the album title. Their third effort, Bleed For The Gods (That's Metal - Lesson One) (2001) would pay homage to their influences by featuring all cover tracks.

6 months after the release of their tribute album, Powergod returned with their fourth album, Nemesis - Evilution Part III (2002), the last of their Evilution trilogy. The songs on this album were dark and threatening, the structures coming across as unusual, to say the least.
