Rock GoddessBiographyRock Goddess (1977-1987, 1994-1995, 2009-2009, 2013-present): a Heavy Metal band from Wandsworth, UK. I t was the early 1980s when school aged sisters Jody Turner (vocals/guitar) and Julie Turner (drums) started recording demos when they invited Tracey Lamb (bass) and (briefly) Donnica Cameron (guitar/vocals) for a contribution to the Making Waves compilation and gigs around London. Managed by the Turner's father they secured a deal with 'A&M'. Their self-titled album in 1983, which followed their EP debut My Angel earlier that year, managed to endear itself to fans of the now splintering NWOBHM movement with their popular and more anthemic standard Brit-Metal sound, managing to secure a 65 UK chart position. Dee O'Malley would replace Lamb for the follow-up release later that same year, Hell Hath No Fury, an album that managed to also breach the lower end of the UK charts at 84. Although they became one of the most known all-female act's in heavy metal, it was painfully obvious at this time that Rock Goddess was failing to get the much higher exposure of their older influence Girlschool, but in fairness Girlschool had some established big label help on their side. O'Malley would leave and the band played on to release Young and Free (1987), an album exclusively released in France, before splitting soon after, with the Turner sisters starting their own band, The Jody Turner Band with two male musicians, but they did not go beyond the local club circuit. The band reformed in 2009 to play the Hard rock Hell music festival in Prestatyn, Wales, but were forced to split again before they had a chance to perform. In March 2013, it was announced that the original line-up of Jody Turner, Julie Turner, and Tracey Lamb had reformed and would start recording a new album originally to be titled Unfinished Business that, ended off being reduced to an EP in the form of It's More than Rock and Roll (2017). Their next full-length would come in the form of This Time (2019). Read Less... ⏫ Dashboard for Rock Goddess
