Rockbitch

Biography

Rockbitch (1984-2003): a Industrial Metal band from , UK.

C

ommuting between England and France this 7-piece pagan sex crazed heavy metal/gothic/industrial metal team would open their bawdy shop in 1984 as Cat Genetica, a time when sexuality and fetishism was coming into vogue. The band was later renamed Red Abyss, in 1989, and drew band members from the matriarchal, polyamorous, pagan, feminist community of which Smith-Skinner was a member.

The list of characters, over time, featured Babe (Real Name: Lisa Wills; vocals; a blonde bimbette who was routinely half naked except for hand prints on her breasts), Julie (vocals; another body-painted bimbette but with ginger hair), Luci (Luci; dancer; just played "slut", no instrument she sold her talent purely on herself being completely naked with the exception of socks, her long black hair, and tape strategically placed over her privates), founder Beast (Real Name: Tony Skinner; guitar; the only male of the lot who dressed rather 'normal'), Jo (drums; the hippie sort), The Bitch (Real Name: Amanda Smith-Skinner; bass; much like Morticia), Nikki (keyboards - We won't bother with anymore descriptions but nude gets mentioned here as well), Nikki Fay (piano, flute), Joanne Heeley (drums; R.I.P. 2012), Chloe (dancer, sex performer), Suna Dasi (a.k.a. Kali; dancer, sex performer) and Martina (a.k.a. Erzulie; dancer, sex performer).

Their shows were naturally the cause of controversy with many, especially in the UK, being routinely interrupted by riot police. Their activities got the local church congregations riled up, especially when they showed up at the gigs to protest by singing hymns, only to be stifled by the ladies walking over to join them! They also angered a lot of the American fundamentalists by throwing a golden condom into the audience and suggesting that the man who catches it can join them on stage for some "fun". Talk to the local police if you want their "records", but the only vinyl kind was released in 1997 and 1999 respectively under the names Rockbitch Live In Amsterdam and Motor Driven Bimbo. A second album, Psychic Attack would not be released in 2002. Several documentaries and sex influenced videos would follow, however.
