M.A.R.S.Biography(AISE: Redirected from Driver) M.A.R.S. (1985-1986): a Power Metal band from Los Angeles, California, USA. T he short lived super group that was M.A.R.S. came about in 1985, originally to be named Driver, featuring Tony Macalpine (guitar), Tommy Aldridge (drums), Robert Rock (vocals) and Rudi Sarzo (bass) but their collective resumes ended off promising more than was delivered. Their Mike Varney produced only album could have been mistaken for just about any great guitarist's solo efforts at the time. Much in the styling of Malmsteen or Rainbow, their debut album Project Driver (1987) lacked an identity of its own and was a flop. The act broke up shortly later with Mcalpine resuming his solo career, while Aldridge and Sarzo joined Whitesnake. Footnote: Do not confuse this M.A.R.S. with M.A.R.R.S., a 1980s techno dance act.
