Down (1991-1996, 1999-2002, 2006-present): a Metalcore band from New Orleans, Luisiana, USA.
Featuring a mix of members from Pantera, Crowbar and Corrosion of Conformity, Down would adopt Corrosion of Conformity-styled Black Sabbath riffs with typical Anselmo vocals, resulting in a style much like other bands from the New Orleans area. Down, featuring Phil Anselmo (of Pantera; vocals), Pepper Keenan (of Corrosion of Conformity; guitar), Kirk Windstein (of Crowbar; guitar), Jimmy Bower (of Crowbar/ex-Corrosion of Conformity; drums) and Todd Strange (of Crowbar; bass), would prove to be an all-star side project releasing three albums, Nola (1995) and Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow... (2002; with Rex Brown (of Pantera) taking over bass), before going inactive, most likely to be shut down.

After the release of the Nola album (1995), Down called it quits in 1996 because of all members continuing to work on their own projects. They did, however, reform in 1999 and then released the aforementioned second album before disappearing once again. After the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Down regrouped to release the third album Down III: Over the Under; the title being a reference to the membership recovering from individual personal low-points.

Big Ross often considered a member of Down despite only making occasional recording contributions and never touring.

2011 would see the departure of Brown for Patrick Bruders. In 2009, Brown was hospitalized after being diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. He was replaced onstage by Danny Theriot.

After Diary of a Mad Band live set (2010), two EPs followed in the form of Down IV - Part I (2012) and Down IV - Part II (2014); the latter featuring Bobby Landgraf (guitars).
