St. VitusBIOGRAPHYSt. Vitus (1979-present): a Doom Metal band from Los Angeles, California, USA. O riginally named Tyrant the band would change their name to St. Vitus and assume a kind of Black Sabbath styled Doom and Stoner Metal persona in 1984 with the 'S.S.T.' release of their eponymous debut featuring the line-up of Scott Reagers (vocals), Dave Chandler (guitar), Mark Adams (bass) and Armando Acoasta (drums). St. Vitus would become a huge influence to many Doom and punk bands from this point on. Reagers made his exit after their sophomore effort, Hallow's Victim (1985), with ex-Obsessed frontman Scott Weinrich taking his place to debut on Born To Late (1986), a record that earned them underground acclaim. For as much ground as they were gaining, their subsequent releases failed to fall in line with their agenda, however, leaving Thirsty and Miserable EP (1987) and Mournful Cries (1988) to fall flat. Now concentrating on the European market, they signed a new deal with 'Hellhound' who issued V in 1989 to little notice. Weinrich would then leave to reform Obsessed, leaving Saint Vitus desperate for its survival with C.O.D. (1992), featuring replacement singer Christian Lindersson. It failed and the band went into hibernation until 1995 for another album, Die Healing, their last release to dateguitarist Dave Chandler recently formed a band called Debris Inc. with ex-Trouble bassist Ron Holzner.
