Virus 7BIOGRAPHYVirus 7 (2000-2001): a Power Metal band from Copenhagen, Hovedstaden, Denmark. T he founding of Virus 7 was another side project led by Mercyful Fate guitarist Hank Shermann, who in turn recruited Dave Moreno (bass), Bjarne T. Holm (of Mercyful Fate; drums) and Edgar Paul Allen (drums). If nothing else, it satisfied the basic requirement of a side project, which is that it doesn't sound much like the member's main band. The debut, Sick in the Head (2000), had little in common to Mercyful Fate, instead opting for a more modern, thrash metal/power metal sound with aggressive hardcore styled vocals, further distancing them from Mercyful Fate. In retrospect it proved to be a competent album albeit not an overly memorable one that came and went with little fanfare. Gutrix was another side project of Shermann's that followed before Virus 7 split, taking Holm with him to record a one-off album. Gutrix proved to be an even better proposition but only a single album ever resulted; it is presumed to have been designed as a one-off side project.
