BIOGRAPHY

Agonizer (1998-present): a Heavy Metal band from Pyhäjärvi, Pohjois-Pohjanmaa, Finland.

his is a case of perseverance paying off, as the band worked hard year after year, releasing a bunch of demos and EPs between 1998 and 2004 but never getting the record deal they wanted despite a growing fan base, though they came close to signing with 'Century Media' around 2002. 'Spinefarm' eventually signed them for their debut album, Birth/The End (2007) coming across as classic Finnish goth rock/metal and traditional power metal style under the membership of Jussi Tikka(bass/vocals (backing)), Atte Palokangas (drums), Jari-Pekka Perälä (guitars/vocals (backing)), Joni Laine (guitars/vocals (backing)), Patrik Laine (keyboards) and Pasi Kärkkäinen (vocals). This would be followed-up with Visions of the Blind (2016).

Footnote: The CD-release show for "Birth / The End" Agonizer was listed in the "Deepest Concert Underground" category in the Guinness Book of World Records for a show held at the Pyhäsalmi mine (the deepest mine in Europe) at 1,410 meters (4626 feet) below sea level.
