apanese kawaii metal band Baby Metal consisting of Su-metal (Real Name: Suzuka Nakamoto; vocals/dance), Moametal (Real Name: Moa Kikuchi; scream/dance) and Momometal (Real Name: Momoko Okazaki; scream/dance; ex-Avenger as a backup dancer), with past members Yuimetal (Real Name: Yui Mizuno; scream/dance; 2010-2018), Mikio Fujioka (Kami Band/guitar; 2013-2018; R.I.P. 2018), Riho Sayashi (backup dancer; 2019-2020), Kano Fujihira (backup dancer; 2019-2020). Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the Kami Band at performances, a band that features the membership of Takayoshi Ohmura (guitar), Leda Cygnus (guitar), Isao Fujita (guitar), Boh (bass), Hideki Aoyama (drums), Anthony Barone (drums), Chris Kelly (guitar), CJ Masciantonio (guitar) and Clint Tustin (bass).

The band was formed in 2010, with the original lineup of Su-metal (vocals/dance), Moametal (scream/dance) and Yui Mizuno as Yuimetal (scream/dance), with the concept of creating a fusion of the heavy metal and Japanese idol genres. Originally a sub-unit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal became an independent act in 2013, following Nakamoto's departure from Sakura Gakuin. In reality their music is a uniquely Japanese fusion of Kawaii metal, J-pop, power metal, and other forms generically called alternative metal.
