Hate EternalBIOGRAPHYHate Eternal (1997-present): a Death Metal band from Tampa, Florida, USA. A fter Erik Rutan (vocals/guitar) initially left Morbid Angel he formed Hate Eternal with ex-Suffocation guitarist Doug Cerrito. With fellow members Jared Anderson (bass/backing vocals) and Tim Yeung (drums) in tow the resulting debut Conquering the Throne (2000) was a ferocious slab of old-school death metal. The album was only 30 minutes long and never let up, and after Cerrito left and Derek Roddy took over drums, the follow-up King of All Kings (2002) fell right in line with the style of the previous. After its release, however, Rutan re-joined Morbid Angel but subsequently left again while Anderson left the act permanently to deal with his drug rehabilitation, Randy Piro has taken his place. Under the membership of Erik Rutan (guitars/vocals), Randy Piro (bass) and Derek Roddy (drums/percussion), Hate Eternal would release I, Monarch (2005), but for Fury & Flames (2008), Rutan would recruit a whole new team featuring Shaune Kelley (guitars) and Jade Simonetto (drums). J.J. Hrubovcak would be on bass for Phoenix Amongst the Ashes (2011), while Chason Westmoreland took the drums for Infernus (2015), and Hannes Grossmann assumed them for Upon Desolate Sands (2018).
