SyrisBIOGRAPHYSyris (1993-1998): a Progressive Metal band from South Elgin, Illinois, USA. O ne of several nineties American bands who aimed to keep alive the glory of eighties metal, Chicago's Syris played classic power metal with slight progressive touches. Formed by guitarist Scott Payne, the band managed to release a self-titled debut album in 1995, along with the membership of Nick Bucci (vocals0, Scott Payne (R.I.P. 1996; guitars), Jason Schultz (guitars), Marty Malcolm (bass) and Sean Brown (drums), but on the eve of a tour for that album, Payne fell ill, and eventually passed away. Paul Speredes would take guitars for the follow-up, Unseen Forces in 1998. After that, Brown left, along with guitarist Paul Speredes, and with no original members left, the Syris name was laid to rest. Several of the members went on to other act's in the Chicago area, like Spirit Web and Twelfth Gate.
