Hammers of MisfortuneBIOGRAPHYHammers of Misfortune (2000-present): a Progressive Metal band from San Francisco, California, USA. T he Hammers Of Misfortune have been blazing their own trail for a few years now, clearly more interested in doing their own thing as they've never sounded particularly contemporary or modern, yet clearly not a retro band either. Initially their style was a sort of dark, medieval, epic power metal, but no matter the style no two albums followed the same formula. The debut The Bastard (2001) would see the membership of Chewy Marzolo (drums), John Cobbett (guitars (electric & acoustic)/vocals), Janis Tanaka (bass/vocals) and Mike Scalzi (guitars/vocals) launch the band. After the follow up, The August Engine (2003), The Locust Years (2006) saw the membership change to feature Sigrid Sheie (piano (acoustic, electric)/hammond B3/vocals (backing) and Jamie Myers (vocals/bass). A much larger membership change would be present for Fields / Church of Broken Glass (2008) to feature Patrick Goodwin (vocals), Jesse Quattro (vocals) and Ron Nichols (bass). 17th Street (2011) saw another change with Max Barnett (bass), Leila Abdul-Rauf (guitars/vocals) and Joe Hutton (vocals). The next effort, Dead Revolution (2016) featured Paul Walker (bass) and Will Carrol (drums/percussion), where-as Overtaker (2022) saw Blake Anderson taking drums, piano, and timpani.
