Cadacross

ormed in 1997, Cadacross was initially a Carcass-influenced death metal band, though by the time of their first album in 2001, So Pale Is the Light, under the membership of Georg Laakso (guitars/vocals), Jarkko Lemmetty (bass), Janne Salo (drums), Tommi Saari (guitars) and Mathias D.G. Nygård (keyboards), they had injected more melodic sections to their style.

Apparently enough musical differences arose between leader Georg Laakso and the rest of the band (Laakso wanting to continue to move away from death metal) that, by the time of 2001's follow up Corona Borealis, Laakso was the only remaining member from the first album lineup. By now the band's style, featuring, Tino Ahola (guitars), Sami Aarnio (vocals), Kimmo Miettinen (drums), Antti Ventola (keyboards), Nina Laakso (vocals) and Jukka-Pekka Miettinen (bass), along side Georg Laakso, mixed melodic speed metal/power metal with death vocals a style of metal particularly popular in their homeland Finland. The act split when Georg Laakso moved to join Turisas.
