Killer Khan

Killer Khan (1993-present) is a Heavy Metal band from Lake Norman, North Carolina, USA.

K

iller Khan was created in November 1993 in Lake Norman, North Carolina by singer/songwriter Killian Khan. After two previous self-financed releases, Latitude Zero (1995) and Rock N' Roll Forever (1997), Kill Devil Hills was released in 1999, a disc remarkably like Black Sabbath during the Ozzy era, with Killian Khan's voice sounding much like Ozzy during that time. In fact, Killer Khan was so mid-80's in style, it made one wonder if the band had been sleeping in a cave. But regardless of their stylistic leanings Killer Khan had managed to avoid sounding dated or stale.

Killer Khan's music was derived from classic eighties metal, with a style that is reminiscent of bands such as Judas Priest, Black Sabbath or Dio, and yet was a sound all their own at the same time. Add to that vocals that are strikingly similar to Ozzy Osbourne during his early solo years, and the result was solid uncomplicated no-frills heavy metal under the stable line-up of Killian Khan (vocals/rhythm guitar), Richard Downs (guitar), Paul Arntz (bass) and Jeff Ausdemore (drums).

Footnote: Not sure if the album Kill Devil Hills was named after the North Carolina coastal town of the same name.
