Headless Cross

Headless Cross (2001-2007) is a Thrash Metal band from Birmingham, UK.

M

idlands based Headless Cross started life in 2002 when guitarist Dave Silver broke free from previous band commitments to start his own band. The band set about writing material and playing gigs. After nearly a year and a half the band finally found the right line-up and direction, and began gigging heavily all over the country. On the circulation of the band's first proper demo Crown Of Thorns, the band received a positive response, being compared to Judas Priest, Metallica, Atrophy, Gammacide and a whole host of great metal bands from the 80's heydays.

In July 2005 the band started work on their up-coming E.P. entitled Burning Sanctuary, with producer engineer Mark Stuart (Marshall Law, Xentrix, Magnum). Intended to showcase the diversity of the bands sound, going from fast and aggressive one minute, to quite and reflective the next.

The band were lucky enough to take part in the first ever Dominion Festival next to bands such as Skyclad, Human Fortress, Deliverance and Conquest of Steel.

2006 saw the band go from strength to strength, augmenting the line-up with Honduran born guitarist Dave Del Cid, Mexican bass player Eric Rios and drummer Sal Christian to work on the bands latest offering In Cold Blood with producer Andy Faulkener (Bolt Thrower, Siam) featuring the influences of Atrophy, Kreator, Annihilator, Forbidden, Vio-Lence, Sacred Reich, Sanctuary, Iced Earth, Savatage, Queensryche, Nuclear Assault, Slayer, Metallica, Nevermore, Destruction, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Meliah Rage, Overkill, Edguy, Exodus, Grinder, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Toxik, Vicous Rumours, and Faith or Fear.

The entire line-up other than Silver quit in mid-2006 following a dispute between Silver and guitarist Jack Wilks. The membership also included, over time: Stuart Beardshaw (bass), Andy "Bear" Stone (bass; ex-Warlord (UK), Heray "Eric" Rios (bass), Chad Ingram (drums), Sal Christian (drums), Kyle Daniel (drums), Rich Goss (guitars), Dave Justo (guitars), Dave Del Cid (guitars) and Rich Pearce (vocals). As a result of the membership departures, the act was ended in 2007.
