Queens Of The Stone Age
Queens Of The Stone Age (1995-present) is a Heavy Metal band from Palm Springs, California, USA.
ueens Of The Stone Age have been quietly gaining in popularity ever since the bulk of the membership started it after the break-up of Kyuss, and would grow to become one of the most influential bands in the Stoner Rock/Metal field. Basically Queens Of The Stone Age are a two-man band featuring former Kyuss men Josh Homme (guitar/vocals) and Nick Oliveri (bass) who surrounded themselves by semi-permanent players and occasional guests, such as drummer Alfredo Hernandez (also ex-of Kyuss) for their 1998 debut Queens Of The Stone Age. Rated R (2000) saw Dave Catchings (guitar/vocals), Gene Trautmann (drums) and Nick Lucero (drums) join, whileJosh Homme returned with new member and ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl for Songs For The Deaf (2002) now following a style considerably less Metallic and more Alternative. In February of 2004 there would be an upheaval of sorts with Mark Lanegan leaving and Nick Oliveri being fired by Homme on personal reasons. Homme has apparently continued on with an unknown own line-up.
