ann Allaire was the creator and energy behind Pirate Earth. With the help of studio drummer Kevin Schmidt joining in the summer of 2000, and Damian Dupuis, who joined Pirate Earth after a previous outfit and switched to bass.
The story of Pirate Earth is more than a mere convergence of musicians with a desire to be jukebox heroes, but rather a personal dream and endeavor. On March 16th 1999 Dann Allaire was struck by a pickup truck driven by a drunk driver while he was trying to cross 11th street in his hometown of Belle River, Ontario. He suffered a broken pelvis, 3 compound fractures to the hip and shattered kneecap, broken teeth, a scarred face and other cuts and bruises. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent 4 hours of surgery. Unlike many who would give it up for lost, he assessed that his voice and hands had survived untouched and decided to make lemonade out of his lemons and launch the millennium project to beat all, Little Ship On A Big Shore (2000). The album contained a lot of personal lyrics to Allaire's recent past, coupled with progressive Metal overtones, and deep sonic resonance and crunchy guitars. The album sold 500 on release and was picked up by 'S&M Music' and 'Emperor Multimedia's Diskery' system for international discussion. At the time of writing, Pirate Earth was planning a second project, with 18-year-old Justin Thompson a child prodigy guitarist, and brother Luke Allaire on backing vocals, keyboards and guitar.
