Dead and Devine (2003-2012): a Metalcore band from Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

pening in 2003, Dead and Devine formed in Burlington, Ontario, Canada in the post-hardcore style of music with the EP release of Her Name Was Tragedy in 2004. Over the course of the act's life it would feature the membership of: Matt Tobin (vocals), Chris LeMasters (guitar), Kellan Lindsay (bass), Sebastian Lueth (guitar) and Kelly Bilan (drums).

What Really Happened At Lover's Lane (2005) beat all expectations when in its first week alone it sold nearly 1,000 copies nationwide, landing them a spot on the Canadian Billboard Top 200.

In the fall of 2006, the band took time off touring to begin work on their full-length album. Following their writing stint, the act set out on several self-booked headlining tours including a winter tour throughout Ontario during the month of January, a February-March east coast tour followed, and two more full Canadian tours spanning from April to August 2007 followed before returning to the studio to complete their next album.

The band then shot their music video for their single Like Wolves from their next record, The Fanciful (2008). The band toured Canada and the US supporting The Fanciful for close to two years with bands like Darkest Hour, Oh Sleeper, and Cancer Bats.

In July 2008, it was announced that Ryan Leger would leave the band in order to be with his girlfriend and newborn daughter. It wasn't long before a replacement was found in the form of, Kyle Anderson of Sydney.

In September 2008, the band signed with 'Distort Entertainment' and embarked on the Weight Of The World Cross Canada Tour with headlining band Misery Signals, along with Haste The Day, Architects and Sights & Sounds.

Soon after, the band then released The Machines We Are on August 4, 2009 and embarked on a Canadian tour with Straight Reads The Line. They again broke the Billboard Top 200 Chart, and hit No. 18 on the Canadian Neilsen Soundscan hard rock Charts, as well as landing No. 39 on the Canadian Neilsen Soundscan Alternative Charts. The band was nominated for Favorite punk/hardcore metal Group at the CMW Indie Awards. Later that month, they shot their second video with Director Marc Ricciardelli for their single Neon Jesus.

Their next album, Antimacy arrived on August 2, 2011 to make 53 on the Canadian Albums Chart. But less than a year later, the next April, the band announced that they would be breaking up after one last hometown show. Officially, they cited a hectic touring schedule and a need to focus on personal lives as their reason for splitting. However, Tobin was cited as saying that incessant fighting and disagreements between the band was the real reason for their demise.

On April 14th, 2014, vocalist Matt Tobin formed a new band by the name of Ritual.
