ura Noir formed in 1993 featuring Aggressor (Real Name: Carl-Michael Eide; ex-Ved Buens Ende, Cadaver Inc., Dødheimsgard, Satyricon, Ulver, Infernö, Virus; bass, drums, vocals) and Apollyon (Real Name: Ole Jørgen Moe; ex-Dødheimsgard, Lamented Souls, Gorgoroth, Cadaver Inc., Immortal; guitars, bass, drums, vocals), who sent out a couple of demos before releasing the underground EP Dreams Like Deserts in 1995. In 1996, Mayhem guitarist Blasphemer (Real Name: Rune Eriksen; guitars) in time for the release of Black Thrash Attack, their first full-length CD. Deep Tracts of Hell (1998)followed.
In 2004, they were the first band to be signed to 'Tyrant Syndicate Productions', a sub-label of 'Peaceville Records', run by Darkthrone members Nocturno Culto and Fenriz. Soon there-after they released their second album The Merciless featuring guests Nattefrost (of Carpathian Forest) and Fenriz (of Darkthrone) on guest vocals.
In March 2005 Aggressor was in an accident and the band was put on temporary hold; it is alleged that he either jumped or fell out from a fourth floor window, and landed on his legs after falling ten metres (?). Although the question on whether he jumped or fell was not answered, hisMay 2006 interview on the Norwegian radio program Tinitus lead credence to the injury when he confirmed he used a wheelchair due to being paralyzed from the ankles down.
Despite this setback, the band continued on to record new material, resulting in a new full-length album, Hades Rise on August 25, 2008 and, as of 2010, has played several live gigs with a replacement drummer. At their gig at the Party.San festival in Germany, Aggressor, still on crutches, joined them as the vocalist for several songs. By the tour with Marduk in 2011 his recovery had progressed to where he was seen on stage without mobility aids.
