Uruk-Hai

Uruk-Hai (1999-present) is a Black Metal band from Spain.

T

he Lord Of The Rings inspired name Uruk-Hai first appeared in Spain in 1999, as a project of Defernos (drums) and Thorgul (a.k.a. Nazgul; guitar/bass). After a few rehearsals, vocalist Crom was added to the line up to record their first demo, A Night of Unholy black metal War (1999). Their first recording proper was the In The Side Of Eternal Eclipse EP (2001), eventually released by 'Battlefield Records'.

The summer of 2002 saw Heolstor join on second guitar but little action otherwise until the spring of 2003 when the band recorded two new songs for their upcoming Isenheim / Uruk-Hai EP split with Isenheim (2003) featuring old school black metal inspired by Spanish renaissance's dark writers, and in the medieval times and legends. Unholy Medieval Congregation and Archi Catedra Nigra Diaboli full-length albums followed in 2006 and 2010 respectively.

Footnote: No relation to the band now known as Burzum originally also going under this name nor the dark ambient band from Austria, formed by Alexander "Hugin" Wieser.
