teev Esquivel (vocals/bass), Mike Roberts (guitar), Gary Wendt (guitar) and Paul Hopkins (drums) came together in 1995 to form Skinlab, a skater friendly ultra heavy metal act with alternative rock leanings often categorized within the groove metal movement.
With help from the fellows of Machine Head, Skinlab got themselves a deal with 'Century Media' to release their debut set Bound, Gagged And Blindfolded in 1997. The subsequent touring, however, was too much for Roberts and Wendt who left. But there was no problem signing new recruits up for Scott Sargeant (ex-Killing Culture) and Snake (Real Name: Steve Green; ex-Skrew) replaced the incumbents soon after. Indeed, the prospects for the act went from good to better when the new guys joined in to make the sound heavier and more mature for the Eyesore EP (1998) and Disembody: The New Flesh (1999).Glen Telford took over where Sargeant left off for the follow-up, reVoltingRoom (2002).
After a three-year hiatus, the band under the revised line-up of Steev Esquivel, Snake, Glen Telford and Paul Hopkins had reformed. That reformation resulted in The Scars Between Us (2009).
It wasn't long after the 2009 release that things changed again. The album failed to impress the sales figures, and Telford once again left and was replaced by Brian Jackson (ex-Kreep). June 2011 would see ex-Rikets guitarist Provo take up duties opposite Snake.
Having failed to produce any new material, Skinlab once again disbanded in 2011.
September 2016 would see Steev Esquivel and Paul Hopkins reform Skinlab along with former members Mike Roberts and Gary Wendt to release Venomous (2019) featuring Marcos Medina Rivera replacing Provo, and Fabian Vastod taking up drums.
