Znowhite

Biography/History

Znowhite (1983-1988): a Thrash Metal band from Chicago, Illinois, USA.

F

irst appearing on Metal Massacre III in 1983, Znowhite were one of many "speed metal" bands of the time. Originally featuring Sparks Tafoya (drums), Ian Tafoya (guitar) and Nicole Lee (vocals) they would release All Hail To Thee EP in 1984, to follow it with Kick 'Em When They're Down EP in 1985. But after the release of Act Of God (1988), an album that saw Alex Olvera step in on bass, while Scott Schafer took over on drums, the act would basically end when they changed their name to Cyclone Temple. It was at this time that founder Ian Tafoya also changed his name to Greg Fulton (presumably his Real Name). The band split in 1988. More recently, Fulton and bassist Scott Schafer formed Rebels Without Applause. Two posthumous compilations arrived under the same name of ZnöWhite in 1998 and 2007; the second re-issue featuring albums All Hail to Thee and Kick 'Em When They're Down and Live Suicide.
