ith the power of Neil Fallon (vocals), Tim Sult (guitar), Dan Maines (bass) and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums), Clutch would sign to 'Earache' for the one-off EP Impetus in 1993 but were quickly snapped up by 'East-West' to release their debut album later that same year titled Transitional Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes And Undeniable Truths. Despite the heavy tour schedule supporting the likes of Fear Factory the band could not get into commercial gear even with the self-titled follow-up in 1995. As the 1990s waned they got deeper into a southern "stoner-Rock" style on The Elephant Riders (1998), Jam Boom (2000) and Pure rock Fury (2001), leaving their Industrial/hardcore metal roots farther behind.
