Witchfynde (1973-1984, 1999-present) is a NWOBHM band from Mansfield, UK.
teve Bridges (vocals), Montalo (guitar), Andro Coulton (bass) and Gra Scoresby (drums) got together in 1976 to form Witchfynde and scored a deal with 'Rondelet' at the birth of the NWOBHM movement. Their influences included the Heavy rock of the 1970s and incorporated occult lyrics that could be attributed today to the black metal movement. Their debut Give 'Em Hell (1980) was quickly followed-up with Stage Fright later that year. Although their debut could lead one to believe they were following in the footsteps of the black metal movement, that perception went no farther than the first album.
Receiving only a cult following, a line-up change ensued with Luther Beltz replacing Bridges and Pete Sugey replacing Coulton resulting in Cloak And Dagger in 1983 to equally little notice outside of their fan base.

The band reformed in 2000 with a new vocalist, Harry Harrison, and in late 2001 released The Witching Hour, featuring some older material re-recorded as well as new; they have been silent since the album's release, however. After disputes with the other members, ex-vocalist Luther Beltz decided to form his own band, amusingly entitled Wytchfynde.
