Hellion (1982-1990, 1998-present): a Heavy Metal band from Los Angeles, California, USA.
t was in 1982 when Hellion formed by vocalist Ann Boleyn (later the founder of 'New Renaissance Records'), and after several line-up changes, she finally settled on Alan Barlam (guitar), Ray Schenck (guitar), Bill Sweet (bass) and Sean Kelley (drums) as teammates. Immediately developing a sound heavily influenced by European heavy metal they secured a deal with the newly formed London based 'Music For Nations' and a year later released their eponymous debut in 1984 but disagreements over matters of business caused the line up to fracture completely. Boleyn grabbed a new bunch of musiciansin the form of Chey Thompson (guitar/sitar), Alex Campbell (bass) and Greg Pecka (drums) to release the long in coming follow-up Screams In The Night (1987). Somehow Boleyn managed to convince her original crew to return (except Sweet who was replaced with Dave Dutton) for their third effort, the mini-album Postcards From The Asylum (1987). The album featured a cover of Judas Priest's Exciter but the rest of the material (mostly original) failed to keep to that standard.
Boleyn would be back once again and recruitingChet Thompson and Rex Tennyson, along with the retuning Schenk,Barlam and Kelly for what was supposed to be her final effort in 1990, The Black Book, a concept vinyl based on her recently published book The Black Dungeon. In 1997 and completely unannounced she reappeared with the "best of..." Up From The Depths (1997) followed by two new discs in one year including Live And Well InHell (1999) a live effort from the old days with the original membership, and The Witching Hour (2000) an EP featuring the second line-up. But after another compilation in the form of Queen Of Hell (2000), a new album with a new line-up would appear in the form of Will Not Go Quietly in 2003 featuring Ann Boleyn (vocals), Ray Schenk (guitar), Chris Kessler (guitar), Glenn Connon (bass) and Sean Scott (drums).
