District Unknown (2008-2019): a Progressive Metal band from Kabul, Afghanistan.

U

nder the membership of Sulleiman Omar (guitars (lead)/vocals (backing)), Yusef Ahmad Shah (vocals (lead)), Qasem Foushanji (bass) and Pedram Foushanji (drums), District Unknown would release Anatomy of a 24 Hour Lifetime (2014). Due to the danger of performing heavy metal in Afghanistan, a nation under conflict with extremists views, the band wore masks during gigs to conceal their identities. Their name came from the movie District 9, a movie the band found relatable to their situation.
