Cinderella (1983-1997) is a Glam Metal band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
inderella was founded by Tom Keifer (vocals/guitar) and Eric Brittingham (bass), with Michael Kelly Smith (guitar) and Tony Destra (drums) joining shortly later (the latter pair would soon leave to form Britany Fox to be replaced by Jeff LaBar (ex-White Foxx) and Jody Cortez). 'Polygram' signed them on Jon Bon Jovi's recommendation after seeing them play a wild gig in Philadelphia.
Fred Coury (ex-London) replaced Cortez after the release of Night Songs, their 1986 debut. The album demonstrated Keifer's songwriting skills unfortunately the remainder was uninventive. Their Aerosmith and AC/DC style was popular, add in a raucous live show and hits were generated with Shake Me and Nobody's Fool as their debut chart markers. Long Cold Winter (1988) established their own sound as a Blues-Rock hybrid, and continued their march up the charts with tracks like Gypsy Road, Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone) and Coming Home. Heartbrak Station (1990) was less successful; too much R&B was to blame. Shelter Me, featuring a Rolling Stone's feel did manage hit status, however. Courtny's departure made room for ex-Shadow King drummer Kevin Valentine to temporarily replace him.

Throat problems with Keifer created a long break before the completion of Still Climbing (1994); it ended off being a strong comeback. John Mellincamp drummer Kenny Aaronoff stepped in temporarily during auditions; Kevin Conway would be the replacement, as a sign of the times he was found on the Internet. Unfortunately their Glam posturing and crooning was now out of style, and they folded shortly later.
