Purgatory

Biography/History

Purgatory (1993-present): a Death Metal band from Nossen, Saxony, Germany.

T

he band Purgatory burst onto the scene in 1994 with their debut EP, Psychopathia Sexualis with the membership of Lutz Göhzold (drums), René Kögel (guitars/vocals) and Uwe "Limbi" Limberger (bass). It was quickly followed-up with Sadistic Spell EP (1995) with Carsten Sickert taking on vocals.

After Damage Done by Worms (1996), their first full-length effort, Usche took over bass for Bestial (1997). The bass position wasn't filled for long for by the time, Blessed with Flames of Hate (2000), was released Torsten had filled it. Indeed, that bass position was a fluctuating one for it would soon after be vacant and filled again, this time with Andy Kaufmann for Luciferianism (2004), the Peter Wehner for Cultus Luciferi - The Splendour of Chaos (2008); an album that also saw Mirko Dreier assume the vocals.

For Necromantaeon(2011), Deathkvlt - Grand Ancient Arts (2013) and Omega Void Tribvnal (2016), the line-up had finally settled in it seems.
