Wagakki Band (2013-present): a Folk Metal band from Japan.


apanese act Wagakki Band plays rock and heavy metal music with wagakki (traditional Japanese musical instruments). They come across as a Japanese version of Kiss, complete with Kabuki face paint and part rocker, part Japanese traditional clothes. Their early songs were adapted from vocalsoid recordings but have since evolved to writing their own original music. The membership of Yuko Suzuhana (vocals), Machiya (guitar), Beni Ninagawa (tsugaru shamisen), Kiyoshi Ibukuro (koto), Asa (bass), Daisuke Kaminaga (shakuhachi), Wasabi (drums) and Kurona (wadaiko) would release Joshou (2013), vocalso Zanmai (2014), Yasou Emaki (2015), Shikisai (2017), Otonoe (2018), React EP (2019) and Tokyo Singing (2020) and the compilation albums Kiseki Best Collection I (2017) and Kiseki Best Collection II (2020). The band held their first overseas performance at Japan Expo 2014 in Paris, France in July, in front of 4,000 attendees. They have since toured the USA and Europe as well.
