Old Man's ChildBiography(AISE: Redirected from Requiem) Old Man's Child (1993-present): a Black Metal band from Oslo, Norway. F ormed in 1993 by vocalist and guitarists Thomas Rune Andersen (then under the stage name of Grusom, and now as Galder) and Jon Øyvind Andersen (a.k.a. Jardar), Old Man's Child were initially calling themselves Requiem from 1989-1993 to release only one demo, but by 1993 a name change and stable lineup had formed with the membership of themselves plus PÃ¥l Ivar (Real Name: Byrnjard Tristan; bass) and Kenneth Ã...kesson (drums) to release their debut EP demo In the Shades of Life (1996). Their name was derived from that found a term found in a Viking book by an ex-member. By Born of the Flickering (1996) Frode Forsmo (a.k.a. Gonde) had replaced Tristan, but Ã...kesson was soon to go by the time The Pagan Prosperity followed the next year. During this time many of the members were experimenting in other bands, a common practice in Norwegian black metal and indeed, Old Man's Child had by this time made the switch from basic heavy metal into black metal. Ill Natured Spiritual Invasion was next in 1998, but the band was now a duet with only Galder and Gene Hoglan (ex-Strapping Young Lad/ex-Dark Angel/ex-Testament/ex-Death/ex-Daemon) as a session drummer. But when Revelation 666: The Curse of Damnation was released in 2000 the whole band had been replaced with himself as the only remaining constant to add Mennoch (bass), Grimar (drums), the returning Kenneth Ã...kesson and Jardar. Galder went off to join Dimmu Borgir, but never gave up on Old Man's Child, and after a three year break would return with In Defiance of Existence in 2003 with only himself, Jardar and Nicholas Barker (ex-Cradle of Filth/ex-Dimmu Borgir/ex-Lock Up) on drums.
