Forbidden (1985-1997, 2001, 2007-2012): a Thrash Metal band from Hayward, California, USA.

tarting as Forbidden Evil by Russ Anderson (vocals), Glen Alvelais (guitar), Craig Lociero (guitar), Matt Camacho (bass) and Paul Bostaph (drums), Forbidden Evil arrived at the crest of the arrival of Metallica and the other "Bay Area thrashers" and even signed to the label driving that movement forward, 'Metal Blade'.

By 1987 and after many demo attempts, Forbidden Evil reduced their name to just Forbidden and saved their former name for their debut album in 1988 to widespread acclaim. Like Testament, Forbidden played the Dynamo Festival in Holland and taped the show for posterity and released it as Raw Evil - Live At The Dynamo in 1989 as a live set, the record even featuring a frenetic cover of Judas Priest's Victim Of Changes. Now, Forbidden rose to become on the forefront of the thrash movement, along with Death Angel, Vio-lence, Defiance, Testament and Exodus.

After Tim Calvert (ex-Militia) replaced Alvelais, they would finally release the proper follow-up, Twisted Into Form (1989) before Steve Jacobs replaced both Bostaph and Camacho; Bostaph going on to bigger thrash metal endeavors with the likes of Slayer, Testament, Exodus and Grip Inc., etc.

Label hassles hindered the band's progression during the rest of the 1990s, with only Point Of No Return - The Best Of Forbidden "best of..." resulting, until 1997 when they returned with Green (1997) and Distortion (1997), two albums that showed them making progression on the 'Gun' label featuring a nod to the grunge genre. It wasn't enough, however, and they disbanded soon after.

In 2001, Forbidden reformed as a one-off for Chuck Billy's Thrash of the Titans benefit concert, under their original name Forbidden Evil.

In 2008 Forbidden began talks with 'Nuclear Blast Records' about recording a fifth studio album, Omega Wave, arrived in 2010.

In August 2011, drummer Mark Hernandez left, citing personal reasons. Gene Hoglan replaced him for some shows, until November of that year, the band announced new drummer, selected from a YouTube auditioning process, Sasha Horn. In July 2012 when Camacho announced he was leaving the band to pursue his legal career, while Anderson stated his intention to "take a break" from the music business. Forbidden was effectively over once more.
