Biography/History

Suck (1970-1971): a Hard Rock band from South Africa.

T

he band named Suck were a rock band who were part of South Africa's first wave of hard rock known as "The Big Heavies". Lasting only eight months before splitting, they recorded their only album, Time to Suck (1971). It was later released in America in 2009. They were also one of the earliest groups to cover Black Sabbath, that being War Pigs on the compilation Rock Today With the Big Heavies! (1972). The membership featured a mixed nationality of Andrew Ioannides (South African citizen; vocals/flute), Stephen Gilroy (British citizen; guitar), Louis Forer (South African citizen; bass) and Saverio Grande (Italian citizen; drums).
