Sons of Kyuss

Biography/History

Sons of Kyuss (1989-1991, 2013-2014): a Stoner Metal band from Palm Desert, California, USA.

O

riginally forming under the name Katzenjammer in 1987, they would change their name to Sons of Kyuss, a name they took from the Dungeons and Dragons game, in 1989 under the membership of Brant Bjork (ex-Fu-Manchu; drums), Josh Homme (ex-Eagles of Death Metal, ex-Queens of the Stone Age; guitars), John Garcia (vocals) and Chris Cockrell (bass; who was replaced by Nick Oliveri less than a year later) to release the EP Sons of Kyuss (1990). They would split up in 1991 when Cockrell left and reformed as Kyuss.

Kyuss would continue for 15 years before reforming as Kyuss Lives! before attempting a new effort as Sons of Kyuss in 2013; an effort that lasted only a year.
