DeadlockBiography/HistoryDeadlock (1997-present): a Death Metal band from Schwarzenfeld, Bavaria, Germany. F ate brought this young band together in 1997, when Tobias, Sebastian, Johannes and Mike met. End of 1998 Hans-Georg took over the bass duties from Mike and Deadlock`s first stable line-up was completed. After releasing their self-titled 7" all on their own the guys from 'Winter Recordings' realized the potential of this talented band and made them an offer they could not refuse. From this day on both parties grew friends more and more and in early 2000 Deadlock`s 7-Song EP I`ll Wake You When Spring Awakes saw the light of day. Since then lots of things have changed... Two new faces joined, namely Thomas replacing Hans-Georg on bass and Tom on additional guitar. Sabine was featured on several tracks of The Arrival playing the Keyboards and performing additional clean vocals. Deadlock developed their brutal and blistering sound to a higher level, playing now tight and skilled metal, with beautiful melodies, a harsh screaming voice and female background vocals. Lyricwise they offer you a wide range of topics, like showing their "Vegan Straight Edge Attitude" in Songs like Menschenhand, focusing their view of our greed ridden society in Spring Is Awoken or in The more Money They Get, or just opening their hearts in poetic and epics like Love I Think I Have Never Felt It Before or Lebe Wohl. See All... ⏬ In 2002 they found new friends in the band Six Reasons To Kill and decided to do a split release on 'Winter Recordings'. Deadlock once again developed their skill and tightness to a higher level and added to their epic music orchestral arrangements. Also the typical Twin-guitar melodies, the blackish keyboard-parts and the female vocals are forced to the next level. In July 2003 the Split-CD were finally released. In late 2004 DL found a new home base with 'Lifeforce Records', who in turn release their newest opus on 28 of June 2005 titled Earth.Revolt, a concept album telling a fictional story about t he final and merciless battle of the earth and its creatures against the exploitation of mankind. Their third album, Wolves (2007) featured prominent electronic and trance influences. The track Code of Honor was turned into their first music video. The fourth album, Manifesto followed in 2008. On December 12, 2008 the band parted ways with bassist Thomas Huschka, citing "musical and personal differences"; John Gahlert would replace him. Bizarro World, their fifth would arrive in February 2011. On October 26, 2011 founding vocalist/lyricist Joe Prem left the band, bassist John Gahlert would become the new harsh vocalist, having previously performed on occasion when Prem was unable to play; bass duties would be handled by Ferdinand Rewicki, who had in the past toured with the band under the various guises of driver, tour manager, and "merch guy". On 8 February 2013, guitarist Gert Rymen had decided to part ways with the band, reducing the lineup to a five piece. On March 21 of the same year, the band signed to 'Napalm Records' through whom they announced they would release their next album, The Arsonist (2013). April 28, 2014, it was announced via the band's Facebook page that Tobias Graf had departed the band, leaving Sebastian Reichl as the only remaining original member. On September 4 of that year, Graf had died at the age of 35. The Re-Arrival, an album of re-makes of songs from earlier albums, would follow in August 2014. In September it was announced that Scherer was beginning her maternity leave, and the band was temporarily replacing her with Margie Gerlitz. This arrangement became permanent two years later when Scherer decided not to return to the band at all. This arrangement would first be seen on Hybris later that year.
