The Lifeline

ith a strong foundation in hard rock, The Lifeline brings classical music into the equation, an element few bands have dared to experiment with. Described as an interesting mix between AFI, Tool and Pink Floyd these hard working Chicagoans owe a lot of their unique qualities to their violinist and co-songwriter Rebecca Faber. Alongside New York transplant and frontman Ryan T. Hope, Faber and her band continue a tradition of "Class meets Sass" that many bands such as The White Stripes have introduced to America.

The band began as an acoustic duo in Farmingdale, New York in the summer of 2003. Then solo artist, singer/songwriter Hope was looking to add and original element to his Pink Floyd-like material. After meeting Faber at a University of Illinois' Illini Symphony concert in which she was concertmaster of, he felt that she could be the missing element to his music. The two met up in NYC where Faber was attending NYU and began writing what would become The Lifeline's first EP. Throughout the rest of their college careers The Lifeline played many shows in upstate New York where Hope attended school, received extensive airplay on local radio stations as well as opened for major label acts such as My Chemical Romance and As Tall As Lions. After a brief relocation to Champaign IL, the band was voted number one local band by 'Green Street Records' was a featured artist on their annual compilation and received radio airplay on many local stations such as 90.1 WEFT and 107.1 WPGU. With their final move to Chicago, The Lifeline has seen most of their success blossom there. With numerous successful shows to date at most of Chicago's premier venues, as well a second place finish at the 2006 XMG International Music Conference in Chicago, The Lifeline is becoming a well known name amongst those in the Chicago music scene.
