Madhouse (1990-present): a Heavy Metal band from Detroit, Michigan, USA.
riginally starting out under the name Red Machete in 1983, the act featured only Doug Braun (guitars) and John Irick (vocals). In 1984 Doug Braun and Jamie Devoll (vocals) would release their first demos the following year. In 1985 they would release their first 45 single in the form of AIn't No Mercy. In 1986 Braun and Irick were reunited to release their second 45 single, Memory, in 1987. The next year the line-up became more complete with Doug Braun, Jamie Devoll, Wayne Kink (bass) and Carl Toth (drums) for the release of their full length album on cassette, Red Machete, named after the former act. Unfortunately, soon after the release Toth was killed by a drunk driver. Shortly later in 1989, the drumstool would be filled by Jeff Bills for the release of rare recording that was never released, in the form of Red Machete Part 2.
In 1990 the band would reunite as Madhouse to release their first full-length featuring Braun, Devoll, Wayne King (bass), Roy Barker (drums). In 1992 the line-up would change to Doug Braun, Robert Diamond (vocals) Wayne King, and Roy Barker. But diamond was short-lived for in 1993 Madhouse released their self-titled second full length album on cassette with their new si nger, A.J. McAlleff.
In 1994 the act would land an international record deal with 'Spin Records' to release Everything Kills on CD featuring Tony Taylor on vocals, but in 1995 a legal dispute commenced whereby the band got ownership over their past recordings dating all the way back to 1996. In 2006 the band is expected to re-relese Red Machete and several rare unreleased recordings.
