Endorphins (1995-2008): a Death Metal band from Toronto, Canada.

riends since grade school, Michael (guitar/vocals) and Patrick (drums), formed Endorphins in 1995. They started as a cover band jamming on everything from Nirvana, Green Day to Metallica and The Smashing Pumpkins. Over the next few years there would be several line-up changes, mostly on the bass position, but it would be Michael and Patrick that remained the founding and only original members. Endorphins were a mainstay in their local Toronto market with gigs at such famous local clubs as The Opera House, The El Mocambo, and Gasworks. During this time they began to write their own songs and even record them on eight track recorders or when their high school's recording studio was available.

In August of 1996 old friend Mike "Toonz" Antunes joined on guitar, and the line-up was finalized in 1997 with the addition of bass player Rob Amaral, Michael's older brother. They continued playing shows in Toronto and won their high school battle of the bands as well.

The band kept evolving while listening (and subsequently influenced by) The Haunted, Slayer and mixing in the classics like Black Sabbath into their music.

In late 2001 Endorphins worked with producer Ian Blurton (Change of Heart, Bionic, Blurtonia) at Chemical Sound Recording. Despite a tight budget the album was completed in four days. Volume One, released shortly later in 2002, featured only six tracks, but each featured a new vibe. Since its release, the album had many favorable reviews and air play on college and university radio, and distribution in Canada and western Europe. Endorphins played regularly in support of their record through the summer and fall of 2003.

By 2004 the band was once again playing in their hometown of Toronto, Canada, mixing a style of thrash metal meets death metal at places like Opera House, hard rock Café and Rokit Club to varying reviews while writing songs for new a full length album that finally arrived in 2006 titled Where Evil Lies. The album was the last heard by this band for they broke up two years later.
