Soulscar

Biography

Soulscar (1997-present): a Thrash Metal band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

F

rom humble beginnings in 1997 as a solo project of Andrew Staehling, Soulscar developed their brand of hybrid thrash metal, death metal and basic heavy metal to a savage level. Through their Abandoned Demo (2000) featuring founding member Andrew Staehling (guitars/vocals/bass) with a session drummer and the Python Demo (2001) with added member Brent Mackenzie (bass/vocals) and Jeff Waters (guest solo), the critics returned universal praise, while the band constantly evolved towards a completely unique approach to extreme melodic heavy metal.

With session players David Henriksen (drums) and Alexandra Kilborn (vocals) and Staehling's own unique raspy voice, they would release their debut album Character Assassination in 2002 featuring lightening speed thrash metal, metallic riffs and addictive harmonies.

2003 brought major progress. The band signed to 'Galy Records' for exclusive distribution of the re-released Character Assassination, and recruited Igor Cheifot (drums), Brent Mackenzie (bass/vocals) and Stas Mikheev (guitars). Soulscar now had a full lineup and quickly took Vancouver by storm. Victim Impact Statement (2004) and Endgame (2006) followed.
