Sonic Pulsar

Sonic Pulsar (2000-present): a Progressive Metal band from Lisbon, Portugal.

ugo Flores (guitar/vocals/synthesizer/piano/drum samples) and Carlos Mateus (acoustic & electric guitar) met in school when they were both living in Brussels, Belgium. They started playing the guitar together and by that time Flores was already writing songs. They met in 1990 and started playing guitar together in 1993 to subsequently start Sonic Pulsar in 2001.

But in between their meeting and band start-up, Flores returned to Portugal in 1995, while Mateus went to England in 1996. Between 1996 and 2000, Flores had written several songs and finished 3 CDs, of which 'Fossil Records' published the last one, Atlantis. Mateus, for his part, contributed to this album with lyrics. In August 2000, Mateus returned to Portugal to study for his Masters Degree and in January 2001 they decided that they wanted to work together as a band, while not giving up Flores' solo career. They started writing in February and finished Playing The Universe (2003). Out Of Place (2004) would see Nuno Ferreira (bass) join.
