Godsend

Biography

Godsend (1991-1998): a Doom Metal band from Trondheim, Trondelag, Norway.

T

his Godsend is not the one featuring Andy Sneap (ex-Sabbat). This Godsend was mostly a gothic metal project for guitarist Gunder Audun Dragsten. On his own he recorded two demos but after having enlisted Dan Swanö (ex-Bloodbath/ex-Edge of Sanity/ex-Nightingale/ex-Pan-Thy-Monium; vocals/keyboards) and Benny Larsson drums (ex-Edge of Sanity/ex-Ophthalamia/ex-Pan-Thy-Monium; drums) he would complete the As the Shadows Fall debut in 1993. By the follow-up In The Electric Mist (1995) he had recruited an entirely new line-up in the form of Per Morten Kjöl (vocals), Tom Wahl (guitars), Tommy Halseth (bass) and Henrik Pettersen (drums) before re-instating Swanö, along with new members Tomas Steinscherer (guitar), Erik Oskarsson (ex-Nightingale; bass), Benny Larsson (drums) for A Wayfarer's Tears (1997), an album of classic Swedish doom metal that also featured bonus tracks at the end that were originally on their first demo. The project would come to an end around 1998.
