afayette, Indiana, USA born Jeffrey Isbell began his career with hometown friend Axl Rose in the huge hit metal band Guns N' Roses in 1985 but due to differences the pair would become former pals, leaving Stradlin bandless until he formed Ju Ju Hounds. In his own act, Stradlin was free to call the shots and his first decree was to not to play the same Glam style of heavy metal of his former act, and chose a more traditional Heavy rock sound instead much in the style of '70's hit acts Aerosmith and Rolling Stones with Keith Richards and Ron Wood placed high on his influences roster.
In 1992 he stepped out on his own with his debut, Izzy Stradlin And The Ju Ju Hounds, an album that received a 53 US featuring himself on vocals and guitar, Rick Richards (ex-Georgia Satellites; guitar), Jimmy Ashhurst (ex-Broken Homes; bass; who replaced original member Mark Dutton (ex-Burning Tree)) and Charlie Quintana (drums; who replaced Doni Grey (ex-Burning Tree)) before filling in for Gilby on tour when he had broken his wrist. Stradlin would then return with what many consider his best work of 117 Degrees in 1998, an album that showed his fretting was well worthy of attention, the album receiving criticism only for its nostalgic feel.
