Warrior Soul

Warrior Soul (1987-2001, 2007-present): a Hard Rock band from New York, New York, USA.

arrior Soul arrived on the scene in 1988 to debut two years later with Last Decade Dead Century with the membership of Kory Clarke (vocals), John Ricco (guitar), Pete McClanahan (bass) and Paul Ferguson (drums). The debut effort got them critical acclaim for their distinctive hard rock sound completed with well-thought political rants. Mark Evans would take over from Ferguson for the release of Drugs, God & The New Republic (1991), a follow-up that failed to relive the glory of the debut, and indeed, all the successive albums likewise failed and after Salutations From The Ghetto Nation (1992) and Chill Pill (1993) problems with the record label surfaced to the point that Clarke once stated that Chill Pill was of sub-par production deliberately in an effort to get the label to release them from their contract. 'Geffen' finally did drop them with 'Music For Nations' picking them up to release Space Age Playboys in 1995 with the revised line-up of the returning McClanahan and Clarke along with Scott Dubois (drums), Chris Moffett (ex-Cycle Sluts From Hell; guitar) and Alexander Arundel (guitar). The resulting album, however, proved to be disappointing and the band split into two camps with part of the membership attempting to revive the act under a new name; it was an effort that also failed to catch on. A compilation followed titled Odds & Ends (1996) whose title clearly identified the contents as an effort to close up business.

The "classic" lineup of Clarke, Ricco, McClanahan, and Evans would later reunite in the studio to re-record fifteen of the bands' songs, released on 'Spitfire Records' as Classics (2001). All Warrior Soul albums were then remastered and re-released on CD and MP3 in 2006 and 2009, including bonus material (mostly live songs originally released as b-sides). The first three albums were also re-released on vinyl in 2009.

Drummer Mark Evans was murdered in London, UK in 2005.

Clarke revived the name in 2007 and set out on a tour of the UK A live album, Live in England, soon followed. In 2008 the band released a new studio album originally titled Chinese Democracy but the title was quickly changed to Destroy the War Machine in deference to the Guns N' Roses album of the same name. In some places it was released as ...And We rock And Roll!.

In 2012, another new lineup featuring Lundell still on guitar and joined by "Johnny H" and Xevi "Strings" Abellán, Danny Engstrom and Sue Gere on bass, with drums by Freddie Cocker Kvarnebrink released Stiff Middle Finger. Former band member John Ricco made a guest appearance on guitar, as does The Mission guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite.

In 2014 Clarke released a solo album titled Payback's A Bitch.

In 2013 Christian Kimmett joined the band along with guitarist Stevie Pearce.

Footnote: Odds & Ends was released outside of the US as Fucker.
