Wild Horses

Biography/History

Wild Horses (1978-1981): a Hard Rock band from London, UK.

T

wo Scots born hard rockers, Brian Robertson (ex-Thin Lizzy; ex-Three's A Crowd; guitar/bass/vocals) and Jimmy Bain (ex-Rainbow) who had met while the latter was with Harlot, took the name of their new act Wild Horses from a Rolling Stones track. After taking on two more musicians in the form of Clive Edwards (ex-Pat Travers; drums) and Neil Carter (ex-Gilbert O'Sullivan; guitar/keyboards) they would sign to 'EMI' based purely on the resumes of the members, Wild Horses started their career together with their 1979 single Criminal Tendencies with their debut self-titled album following in the spring of the next year. Despite getting criticism for an unoriginal hard rock sound, the debut managed a 38 UK spot. John Lockton then replaced Carter when Carter went to join Gary Moore. Stand Your Ground (1981) came before Dixie Lee - NOT the paper plate and cup company  (ex-Lone Star) replaced Edwards for the Everlasting Love single that became the band's swansong in late 1981 for the act folded shortly later. Robertson then joined Motorhead and Bain went on to play with Dio.
