SledgehammerBiographySledgehammer (1978-1988): a NWOBHM band from Slough, Berkshire, UK. F ounded by Mike Cooke (vocals/guitar), Terry Pearce (bass) and Ken Revell (drums/percussion), Sledgehammer aligned themselves with Motorhead for a support slot as their very first gig! With such a promising start they further lucked-out with their debut eponymous 1979 single becoming a favorite with the NWOBHM crowd and got them a slot on the famous Metal For Muthas compilation in 1980. But their luck soon ran out for follow-ups failed to secure them such fame, even with high profile touring slots. The net result was a 5 year gap before their debut album Blood on Their Hands (1985) was released featuring John Jay (bass/keyboards/vocals). By this time the momentum had been lost and the record fell on deaf ears; four other singles were released: In the Queue (1983), In the Middle of the Night (1988) and Living in Dreams (1980), with (We Don't Like) Porno Peat (1988), being withdrawn from the market soon before the act split. A video Live In London was released in 2005. Footnote: There are many bands around the world named Sledgehammer but this is the most noted one. Dashboard for Sledgehammer
