eaturing a fusion between the origins of heavy metal and the present, according to Evolution's bio, they "signaled the undisputed right of existence of this genre, which has survived short-lived trends and has renewed itself over the years by expressing the old and the new generation of Metalheads". On stage, Evolution expressed this confidence in their handiwork with such acts as Doro, Crematory and Mystic Circle.

Under the membership of Maik Nirmaier (vocals), Tosse Basler (guitar), Thomas Herrman (guitar), Thomas Appel (bass) and Ritchie Gonzalez (drums) they would record their 2001 independently produced demo, Empire Of Time, a recording that subsequently got canned and remained unreleased even after they secured a deal to release Dark Dreams Of Light (2003) on the 'Communication/Point Music' label.
