Lawnmower Deth (1987-1993, 2008-present): a Thrash Metal band from Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire, UK.
Usually known only by their stage names Qualcast Mutilator (Real Name: Pete Lee; vocals), Concorde Faceripper (Real Name: Steve Nesfield; guitar), Schitzo Rotary Sprintmaster (Real Name: Gavin 'Paddy' O'Malley; guitar), Mightymo Destructimo (Real Name: Chris Parkes; bass) and Explodin' Dr Jaggers Flymo (Real Name: Chris Flint; drums), and inspired by the over-the-top styles of Judas Priest, Venom and Skyclad, Lawmower Deth came across as another humorous version of Spinal Tap by spoofing the thrash metal genre. With the help of band buddies Metal Duck, they released Mower Liberation Front in 1989. Although it, and all they produced, failed to chart, the humor didn't go missed, especially with 'Earache' who signed them to release their second effort Ohh Crickey It's... Lawnmower Deth in 1990. This effort proved to be their best and funniest [if you share the humor] with classic tracks like Can I Cultivate Your Groinal Garden? and Satan's Trampoline.

Kev (ex-Acid Reign) replaced Rotary for The Return of the Fabulous Metal Bozo Clowns (1992) by which time they were a regular appearance in many British pubs.

Cover tracks were very much a part of this act's sense of humor with several famous songs added to their repertoire, including Fleetwood Mac's The Chain, Motorhead's self-titled song, Squeeze's Up the Junction, The Osmonds' Crazy Horses, and Kim Wilde's Kids in America (released as the band's first single in 1991).

The joke was quickly wearing thin and after 1994's Billy they called it quits.

As we all probably know by now, I Quit doesn't mean the same in the music business as to the rest of us and Lawnmower Deth reformed in 2008 then debuted again in 2009 to play the Download Festival at Donington Park two years in a row. Chris Billam would assume drums in 2007. Their next recording would arrive in 2022 as Blunt Cutters featuring Pete Lee (vocals), Steve Nesfield (guitars), Gavin O'Malley (guitars), Chris Parkes (bass) and Chris Billam (drums).

Footnote: Kevin Papworth and Dave Lee have been past holders of the guitar position.
